A group of Chinese and American veterans will unveil a war memorial in a Beijing park on Friday to encourage a look back at China's war with Japan and its peacetime activities over the past 60 years, the group said Wednesday.

The 60-meter-long Peace Wall consists of 16 sections and features the handprints of people from all walks of life.

The 5 million yuan (about $617,000) privately funded project also includes a 10-meter-high Beijing Peace Monument bearing the signatures of veterans.
