Former Moldovan Defense Minister Valeriu Pasat has been charged for exceeding his office over the sale of 21 MiG-29 fighter jets to the United States
in 1997, Itar-Tass reports. The Prosecutor General’s Office estimates that before being sold the planes should have been included in the state
privatization program.

The deal was worth more than $80 million, but the republic’s budget received only half of this sum.
