New Russian Topol Missile Makes U.S. Defenses Obsolete

Russia has tested a ballistic missile that would render the United States Star Wars scheme useless, a U.S. expert has said.

According to Ritter, who in the past correctly concluded that Baghdad had no weapons of mass destruction, the SS-27 is hardened against lasers, so the U.S. defense system’s airborne laser —- a program that is already behind schedule —- wouldn’t work. And because the missile is maneuverable and capable of releasing three warheads and four decoys, it would be much harder to defeat as it falls in the terminal stage of flight.
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s spokesman, Rick Lehner, told Business Week that his agency’s goal is to address “the more rudimentary missiles North Korea and Iran are developing.” But the business magazine pointed to the possibility that Tehran and Pyongyang could acquire an SS-27.
“I don’t know about that,” Lehner was quoted as saying.

Btw, I think with the new Topol, this is the end of the US Missile Defence System.
Ouch. US's downfall, but then they'll probably come up wih something more or else to counter these technologies. When that happens Russia's going to develop even better missiles, so it'll become an arms race.
Too bad, us Canadian might join this obsolete missile defence program and have all our tax money go down the drain.
and US will again force Canada to join on another program to develop more wepons.
