Taiwanese TV crew tracks U-2 in Del Rio
A Taiwanese film crew traveled to Del Rio Friday to reveal a hidden
history.
“Though our countries appear distant, we are close linked in history,” said Yi-Ning Tang, production executive for Phoenix Satellite Television
based in Taipei, Taiwan.
Tang said much of the information regarding the “Dragon Lady” U-2 spy plane has been declassified in the United States, but Taiwan’s citizens
are still unaware of the cooperation between the two nations and the missions they carried out.
Tang and the other members of her crew came to Del Rio to film a documentary on the Black Cat Squadron, a group of Taiwanese U-2 pilots.
The crew spent much of Friday morning touring Laughlin Air Force Base where members of the Black Cat Squadron trained around 40 years ago.
