Two Russian women set a record for blimp speeds during a contest in Moscow.
Airship commander Natalia Volodicheva and second pilot Yekaterina Kochetkova set a world record for female blimp speeds on an VH-4 air ship in the category of 1600-3000 cubic meters, the Newsru.com site reported, citing a press release of the competition.
The blimp traveled a one kilometer distance at an altitude of 30 meters three times within 30 minutes on Ramenskoye airport’s territory. The speed is averaged from two trips, one against the wind, one with the wind.
Meanwhile, organizers said that the weather conditions were not ideal for this kind of airship. But Volodicheva said that her feat was interesting.
She added that her team was ready to break new records in distance and trip length.
