Czech fighters help Vietnamese 737 in distress
Two Czech Jas-39 Gripen fighters helped a Vietnamese
national airlines Boeing 737 which lost contact with air traffic controllers over the Czech Republic, Michal Prejzek, spokesman for the airforce base
in Caslav, Central Bohemia, told CTK.
The Gripens found the plane over Pardubice, East Bohemia, and accompanied it to Karlovy Vary, West Bohemia, where the Boeing established contact with
German air controllers, Prejzek said.
The server www.idnes.cz wrote that the pilots managed to establish contact with the plane on an emergency frequency after about five minutes. Prejzek
did not elaborate on the plane's destination and from where it had flown.
Gripens have been serving in the Czech Republic for exactly one year. They have been used in four emergency cases.
