Boeing's new 7E7, faster, and more spacious
and fuel efficient than predecessors
BOEING Commercial Airplanes' latest member in its jetliner family - the Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner has created waves in the aviation industry. It has attracted the attention of international airlines operators as well as Boeing?s archrival Airbus Industrie from France.
The 7E7 Dreamliner is expected to start production in 2006 and be first delivered to a customer in 2008.
Although smaller than the Boeing 777 and Boeing 747, 7E7 Dreamliner uses new engine and materials technologies that allow it to burn significantly lesser fuel per passenger and fly farther without refuelling.
It has a faster cruising speed and can operate at a higher altitude compared to a Boeing 777.
The Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner is the latest addition to the company's jetliner family. It is faster, more spacious and fuel efficient than its predeccessors.
The Boeing 777 range of aircraft, which seats from 300 to 368 passengers, is already among the most technologically advanced of airplanes in the world.
It is the world's largest twinjet airplane and has the longest range for any commercial aircraft in service.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes regional director of product marketing Michael J Wilson said the company had received 64 confirmed orders for the 7E7 Dreamliner.
They are from the Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (52 airplanes), Air New Zealand (two), First Choice Airways (six) and Blue Panaroma (four).
?We anticipate that in the next 20 years, the industry will need at least 3,500 7E7 Dreamliners,? Wilson told a group of Malaysian journalists in Seattle last month.
?Being a lighter aircraft, the 7E7 saves up to 20% to 30% in fuel consumption and up to 60% more cargo revenue capacity,? he said.
