CAE TO PROVIDE FIRST FULL-FLIGHT SIMULATOR FOR CHINESE REGIONAL JET ARJ21
CAE Inc. has been selected to provide the first full-flight simulator for the new ARJ21 regional jet being developed by China Aviation Industry Corp.
(AVIC 1) Commercial Aircraft Co. (ACAC) Ltd. in China.
The selection was confirmed in the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Zhuhai air show in China yesterday in the presence of Xu Qinghong,
ACAC's vice-president, and Jeff Roberts, CAE's group president for civil simulation and training.
The simulator will be delivered to the ACAC flight training centre that is to be established in Shanghai in 2008.
"At CAE, we pride ourselves on being at the very cutting edge of aviation training technology. We have extensive experience in developing
simulators for new aircraft in development," said Mr. Roberts. "The fact that we were chosen to provide the simulator for a project as
innovative as the ARJ21 confirms our leadership in the market."
First unveiled at the 2001 Beijing Air Show, this regional jet will be China's first domestically designed and built aircraft. The ARJ21 family
of aircraft will have a capacity of 70 to 90 seats and is expected to enter into service in 2008.
