Grand Forks AFB to hold Tanker Olympics!
Grand Forks Air Force Base is preparing to host 60 athletes from
across the country in the first "Tanker Winter Games."
The Feb. 24 event is aimed at bringing airmen from tanker bases together, and promoting the Grand Forks base as a good place to be, said Capt. Michael
Meridith, a base spokesman.
"It's a great way to bring them out to Grand Forks, show them the incredible hospitality that we've received from the local community and show them
how we carry out the mission under some of the most demanding climatic conditions that you can imagine," Meridith said.
Airmen from five air refueling bases will compete in such events as races and rock climbing. The event also will feature a forum for airmen to talk
about the future of the tanker community, and social events including a Grand Forks tour.
